Each year KTCF participates in Capel Manor’s wonderful celebration of city farms & community gardens at their City Harvest Festival. This year we hired a minibus and 14 of our young volunteers camped overnight and were joined the next morning by a further 28 young farmers & adult volunteers. It was an amazing day of fun, prizes and activities. Volunteers & staff joined other farms to offer a range arts and crafts for visitors in the ‘Have-A-Go’ tent. KTCF won an array of prizes, with young farmers entering our animals into competitive classes throughout the day. Taking 1st Prize in three categories: Best Pumpkin, Best Animal Penn, (designed and built by Mel Chamberlain & Kerry Kennedy) and winners of the Adults tug-of-war; 2nd prize was received for most unusual container (TV farm designed by Lucy Caithness) and a Special Prize for Best Duck (pictured). Thank you to everyone who volunteered and made it such a fantastic day for the farm, to ‘Awards For All’ for financial support and special thanks to Megan and Anne for their incredible hard work baking & selling such delicious cakes.
