Some of you may know that recently our dearly loved horse Bailey passed away unexpectedly. For sixteen years he was ridden and cared for by thousands of local children. Riding instructor Diane Probets who has worked at the farm for many years said “He had a wonderful character and was ridden by everyone from 2-year olds to adults. He was so calm and gentle. It’s been lovely to see so many people come and lay flowers and share their memories. He will be greatly missed.”
In memory of Bailey, a fund has been established to continue the development of the riding programme and we will be looking for a new horse to join the farm by the end of the year. We would like to thank the Thackeray Art Gallery and Theresa Burke of the Howdens Joinery Company and the many, many individual local people who have contributed to the Bailey Fund. So far, we have raised £2,100 and are aiming to raise a further £4000.
