The farm is running a series of educational workshops to teach young people about ways to live sustainably. These workshops will offer the opportunity to learn how to use natural and recycled materials to make what we need. There will be key skills taught that equip young people to live a resilient, sustainable life including growing food, composting, woodworking, sewing, natural dyeing, felting and making simple herbal remedies. Kentish Town City Farm is offering these workshops at a time when there are few opportunities for young people to learn these skills, so we are very pleased to be able to offer this training for free!
The workshops are open to young people aged between 8-21years. They are free to attend and all materials are provided, but you need to register so we know numbers attending. Parents are welcome to stay.

Clay as a sustainable material – come and make some pottery and learn about clay!
Sunday 30th March, 2pm – 4:30pm
This workshop will teach all about the how clay is a sustainable material. London is built on clay and there is clay on the farm and in the local area that has been used to make bricks for centuries.
This workshop will teach about how the clay has formed and how people have used clay through the ages, including the clay in this area (to make bricks etc). The children/young people will then have a chance to use clay to make something to take home with them.
This workshop is free to attend but you need to register in advance so we know how many materials are needed. Register by completing the form by clicking here.

Making homes for wildlife on the farm

To have a sustainable future we need to support wildlife that we depend on to live. This workshop will teach young people about the wildlife that lives on the farm, the role they play in the farm’s ecosystem including amazing, fantastic facts! We’ll do a wildlife adventure trail to see who is out and about and make some insect homes, including hoverfly lagoons, earwig houses and bee hotels before putting them up so we can monitor who is using them.
